Recruitment of New Magistrates
Magistrates have been involved in the administration of justice at a local level for many centuries, but their importance to the administration of justice remains as strong today as it ever was.
If you care about local justice and would like to gain valuable skills whist serving your Community, becoming a magistrate could be the role for you.
You don't need legal experience or qualifications to serve as a magistrate – they come from every imaginable background.
You do need to be aged between 18 and 65 and able to sit for a minimum of 26 half days per year. Magistrates are not paid, but many employers allow time off with pay, or you can claim a loss of earnings allowance. We welcome applications from all sectors of the Community.
Closing date for receipt of completed application forms is Monday 20th December 2010.
If you feel that you can uphold the law and deliver local justice and make a vital contribution to your Community, then contact Mrs. Judith Johnson on 01792 478309 / 01639 765959 or email her on: judith.johnson@hmcourts-service.gsi.gov.uk
