Future Jobs Fund

SCVS and the Future Jobs Fund

£6,000 available to 3rd sector organisations to employ people within their communities!

SCVS has made a successful application to be able to deliver 75 FJF jobs within Swansea's voluntary sector from January 2010 to March 2011. The jobs are fully funded by the DWP - if your organisation has expressed an interest in employing a FJF participant, do get in contact with SCVS as soon as possible to talk it through with Charlotte.

The Future Jobs Fund is a government funded initiative designed to create jobs for people who, currently, have been claiming Job seekers Allowance for between 39 and 50 weeks and who are either young people aged 18-24, or people of any age providing they live in "unemployment hotspots". These have been identified as Townhill, Penderry, Castle Ward and Bonymaen. All jobs must last for a minimum of 6 months, provide a minimum of 25 hours work per week and must pay at least the minimum wage.

Since the programme started on the 4th January, we have already interviewed 17 people, for 5 different jobs at 4 organisations and have employed a total of 4 candidates. The feedback we have received from these organisations is that most of the candidates were of an extremely high standard and that if it had been possible, they would have employed them all!

So…

  • can this initiative help your organisation find someone to help you deliver your services?
  • or maybe to do that job that you have never had the money to fund?
  • maybe you already have volunteers who fit the FJF profile who would be able to become your FJF paid staff member?

Or perhaps you will simply want to get involved to give participants a chance to gain the skills, confidence and experience to compete successfully in the job market?

Interested?

Then SCVS will be delighted to hear from you. ............we will provide all the support you need to identify potential jobs, there is hardly any paperwork and we are offering up to £6,000 to pay for each job you create!
