Swansea Drugs Project -

The Swansea Drugs Project is one of Wales's leading harm reduction agencies, having over 29 years developing expertise in supporting those affected by drugs or alcohol.

The agency is committed to supporting its staff to develop their full potential and provides extensive training opportunities, regular line management supervision, external clinical supervision and a supportive working environment. The agency is based in new premises in the city centre which offers many new resources for their service users and staff team.

The Project is seeking to employ enthusiastic and motivated individuals wishing to support drug and alcohol users to achieve their full potential.

Young Persons Worker

Salary: £19,621 - £22,221

To work as part of the specialist service for children and young people in Swansea “The PLACE”. Duties include assessment and care management, training and activity based interventions.

LINKS / Employment, Education and Engagement Worker

Salary: £19,621 - £22,221

To work as part of a specialist team that supports drug and alcohol misusers to access employment, training or educational opportunities.

Both of these posts offer an opportunity for individuals to join a committed and supportive team which focuses on improving the lives of those affected by substance misuse.

Swansea Environmental Forum - Low Carbon Swansea - Project Manager

Salary: £25,000 per annum

An experienced manager is required to run the newly established Low Carbon Swansea project.

The Project is developing a co-ordinated, integrated and sustainable approach to reducing carbon emissions across all sectors in the City and County of Swansea area. To achieve this, the post-holder will work to raise the profile of carbon management with members of Swansea's Local Service Board (LSB) and other large public bodies, as well as with the business community and the wider community.

The project is run by Swansea Environmental Forum (SEF), which has recently established a partnership for carbon management within Swansea. Your role will be to facilitate information exchange and collaboration across all sectors towards a shared action plan for carbon management.

Both experience of working in the field of environmental management / carbon reduction and in leading successful partnership working to achieve and maximise collaboration is essential.

The Board is willing to consider secondment arrangements for this position, particularly from partners.

The Environment Centre, an environmental registered charity based in Swansea, will manage this post on behalf of SEF.

Preferred start date: End of March 2012

The contract will run until March 31st 2014, but could continue subject to funding.

Faith in Families - Little Sunbeams - Swansea Children's Centre

Childcare Workers

NJC 11 - 13 - £14,733 - £15,444 pro rata

20 hours between 8am and 6pm, Monday - Friday, 52 weeks per year (holiday entitlement applies)

The role of the Childcare Worker is:

  • To support the centre manager and staff team in providing high quality childcare, by means of innovative and challenging play opportunities, within a positive, safe and happy environment
  • To help plan, provide and take part in activities to stimulate and support educational, physical, social, language, emotional and play development of the children attending services (aged 3 months to 3 years).

Playworkers must:

  • Be qualified to Childcare NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Be subject to a CRB Enhanced Disclosure

Funky Dragon - x2 Vacancies

Funky Dragon is an initiative supported by the Welsh Government to encourage active citizenship and to ensure that the children and young people of Wales are involved in making the decisions that affect their lives.

South Wales Development Worker (11-19yrs)

  • 35 hours a week
  • Based in Swansea
  • £22,665pa
  • Funded until 31st March 2013

Funded by the European Social Fund, this is an exciting opportunity to support young people aged 11-19 years, across the Convergence areas of South Wales as part of the Reach the Heights, First Footholds project. This project aims to increase and improve skills amongst young people through a variety of interventions including workshops, accreditation and work placements.

South Wales Development Worker (11-25yrs)

  • 35 hours a week
  • Based in Swansea
  • £22,665pa
  • Funded until 31st March 2013

This post is part funded by the European Social Fund and is an exciting opportunity to support young people aged 11-25 years across South Wales.

Applicants for the above posts must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with young people and have experience of working collaboratively on an equal basis and empowering manner with young people. Experience in play work, youth work, children's rights or participation is essential.

Both posts will involve work on weekends and evenings on a regular basis. There may be the opportunity for a proportion of time to be spent working from home if deemed appropriate. A full driving licence is essential.
