Membership of SCVS is open to all voluntary and community groups who are based and/or provide services in the City and County of Swansea.
As a member of SCVS, your organisation will automatically have access to the many services we have to offer, such as:
Information and Resources
Sector3 delivered direct to your door! Our quarterly newsletter contains up-to-date information on funding, training, events, legislative changes and current sector news. Also available to groups are information sheets on, for example, preparing your constitution, how to register as a charity and data protection. You can also access the SCVS library which contains information on funding, management, statistics, charity legislation and the Assembly.
Volunteer Centre
Looking for volunteers? We can help you search! Our Volunteer Centre offers a comprehensive volunteer recruitment, placement and support service. We can give you information on the Disclosures service, offer training and guidelines on good practice, and also advertise your volunteer events and recruitment through the local South Wales Evening Post.
Funding Advice Service
Access to our funding advice service, including a computerised trust fund database, which finds suitable trusts for your group to apply to, plus general funding advice and information on how to apply to the National Lottery Fund. BBC Children in Need, local funders etc. Not sure how to go about making an application? We do, and we can show you too!
Training
SCVS training unit offer very low cost, high quality training from our comprehensive training programme, which can also be accredited, or speciality tailormade courses to suit your organisation or individual needs. Afiliated Voluntary Organisations receive a substantial discount of 50%.
Voting Rights
Any group who are members of SCVS (excluding Associate Members*) may nominate a representative for election onto the SCVS Board of Trustees and will be entitled to vote at the AGM.
* Associate Members
Voluntary groups who do not either have a base in Swansea, nor offer any services within the City and County of Swansea, are eligible to become Associate Members. This means you can receive all the benefits of membership, but are unable to vote at the AGM to the Board of Trustees.
