Capital Grants Fund
The Capital Grants Fund will consider applications for capital* costs that will help to promote regeneration of communities by tackling one or more of the following priorities:
- Creating or refurbishing facilities available to the community as a whole, or adapting them to ensure equal access to disabled people as required under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
- Actions to improve the built or natural environment for local people
- Activities that encourage healthier life-styles or build self-esteem.
- Providing facilities or activities which reduce poverty, inequality, discrimination and social disadvantage.
- Stimulating community business and social enterprise.
- Projects that involve people of all ages and abilities and address the needs of socially excluded groups.
- Strengthening the cultural and linguistic identity of the community.
There is no maximum limit for applications but grants will usually be in the range of £1,000 - £10,000. Grants for more than £10,000 will be considered only where the facility will be used by several community groups or a very high number of individuals.
Applications for capital work on buildings or land will require evidence of ownership or security of tenure for a lengthy period.
Applications can be submitted at any time - we aim to give a decision within 4 months.
* “Capital” means spending on the purchase of or creation of assets which are expected to be used for a period of at least one year.
Full Criteria, Guidelines and Application Pro-forma can be downloaded from resources on the right.
