SCVS Membership Information and Costs


SCVS has a growing membership of more than 220 organisations ranging from branches of national charities to regional and local community groups.

Membership eligibility / level is dependant on the type of your organisation and it's geographical area of operation. There is a County Voluntary Council (our equivalent) in each unitary authority in Wales, therefore, Full Membership of Swansea CVS, which includes responsibility for policy and governance of SCVS, is only open to Third Sector organisations whose work offers benefit within the City & County of Swansea who are therefore stakeholders in this county. You are welcome to apply for 'Associate Membership' of SCVS, but should also be aware that your appropriate geographical CVC will be able to offer you Full Membership of their organisation.


Full Membership

Open to Third Sector organisations whose work offers benefit within the City & County of Swansea, these members benefit from:

  • First year of membership of SCVS free of charge
  • Discounteed fees for training courses, conferences and events run by SCVS where these are not subsidised by other sources
  • Free copy of our quarterly magazine 'Sector 3'
  • Regular direct mailings and emails to your organisation on important issues affecting the voluntary sector
  • The opportunity to nominate a representative onto the SCVS Board of Trustees, who are legally and financially responsible for the organisation
  • Voting rights at our Annual General Meeting

First year of membership: free of charge

Thereafter:

  • No or 1 paid worker: £5.00
  • 2 paid workers: £10.00
  • 3+ paid workers: £20.00 (per annum)


Associate Membership: Third Sector organisations

Open to Third Sector organisations that do not currently work within the City & County of Swansea, these members benefit from:

  • Discounted fees for training course, conferences and events run by SCVS where these are not subsidised by other sources
  • Free copy of our quarterly magazine 'Sector 3'
  • Regular direct mailings and emails to your organisation on important issues affecting the voluntary sector

£20.00 (per annum)


Associate Membership: Non-Third Sector organisations / Individuals

Open to public bodies, private companies and individuals regardless of their geographical location, these members benefit from:

  • Free copy of our quarterly magazine 'Sector 3'
  • Regular direct mailings and emails to your organisation on important issues affecting the voluntary sector

£25.00 (per annum)


The membership year runs from 1st April - 31st March. Therefore, membership is always renewable beginning 1st April annually. Groups are welcome to join SCVS at any time of year, bearing in mind the membership renewal date.
