Building Strong Bridges

The aim of Building Strong Bridges is to strengthen partnership working between the Voluntary Sector and the NHS in Wales. Partnership Working is the core principal for the delivery of the Welsh Assembly Government's policies and plans

Health & Social Care Facilitators for Building Strong Bridges:

In October 2002, the then Minister for Health and Social Services Jane Hutt, annouced a £3m programme over three years to meet the costs of employing facilitators in Health and Social Care in the Voluntary Sector. This has enabled each CVC to appoint a faciliator. The local facilitators are supported by a National Health and Social Care Facilitator, Sarah Timmis, who is based in Wales Council for Voluntary Action, Cardiff Bay, so linking the work of local and national voluntary organisations.

Aim of the post:

Support the Voluntary Sector to develop and sustain strong partnerships with each other and with other agencies involved in health and social care.

Main Tasks:

The facilitators will promote joined up thinking, bringing together voluntary organisations and health and social care providers. They will strengthen the links with the Assembly, Wales Council for Voluntary Action, County Voluntary Councils, Local Health Boards, Trusts, Public Health Services and the Wales Centre for Health.

This is a review (conducted by the Welsh Institute for Health and Social Care) of the impact made by the Building Strong Bridges (BSB) programme in its first 5 years to 2008, and an assessment of the critical success factors underpinning it and any lessons learned.
