Swansea Mental Health Forum
and Swansea Self-Harm Initiative (SWSHI) - Mind's Self Help Support Group
In the Spring of 2007, MIND, nominated by the Forum to bid for funding for a facilitated self-harm project, had approval from the Tudor Trust.
SWSHI (Swansea Self Harm Initiative) is a new project which has been operating since September 2007. The main objective is to set up a range of self help support groups to meet the varying needs of the community. The project is initally for people who self harm.
A self harm support group for people over 18 years of age who self harm, takes place every Wednesday between 11.00 am - 1.00 pm at the Swansea Mind Centre, 66 St Helen's Road. The group helps people to explore their own reasons for self harming, in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
A monthly drop in is also held in The Cyrenians, behind St Matthew Church, High Street, where people who self harm can pick up some information and have a confidential informal chat.
