Why Volunteer?
Young People
Do you ever feel frustrated that your opinions aren't taken seriously? Are you unsure which direction you'd like to pursue for a career, or are you worried that when it comes to it, you won't have the experience you need?
Then now is the time to act!
For more information about the different opportunities available to you as a young person, please Click here, or visit: volunteeringandcitizenship/volunteering/youthvolunteering.html
Jobseekers
As a jobseeker, it can be easy to dismiss the idea of giving your time for free when the priority has to be finding paid employment.
But the route to a new job can be difficult, when so often lack of experience or skills can rule out whole areas of employment.
So get involved and get a head start!
By volunteering some of your time to a local group or charity, you could be dramatically improving your job prospects.
Volunteering is a great way of building your skills, developing new ones and updating established ones. It's also a great way to get experience of new types of work – for example, if you are looking at office work, then volunteering to help a charity with their admin or computer work could help you to gain vital hands on experience.
Volunteering is a fantastic way of showing potential employers that you are a proactive person that wants to be occupied – the type of person that would be an asset to their company.

Employed Adults
Do you enjoy your job?
If you do, then the skills and experience you've accumulated during your working life could be essential to a charity or community project in your area.
If you don't, then volunteering can provide you with the skills and experience so vital to changing careers – or in gaining that promotion.
We have a wide variety of flexible placements to suit your needs - as little as one hour a week can make a difference to your community, and give you the satisfaction of knowing that whatever you choose, you've helped where it's needed.
Volunteering shouldn't cost you anything as your charity will usually reimburse any expenses that you may incur.
So visit us at the Centre for free advice, and choose from over 300 different options in Swansea alone.

Over 50's
As an older person your life experiences put you in a unique position. Your skills, whether they are actual qualifications, experience or an interest or in a certain field, mean that you can have a really positive impact on local charities.
You could choose to become a trustee for a group, and be involved in the policies and strategies needed to take them forward; or perhaps you would like to act as a surrogate Grandparent to a child in Swansea who would benefit from the support of an older person.
The variety of opportunities is vast – we currently have over 300 registered at the Centre, so whether you're looking for a casual commitment or something more time consuming, or whether you want to share your skills or get out and enjoy yourself, volunteering could be just what you're looking for.
