Engagement Gateway - Helping Others to Become Volunteers
In this project you will work as a 'Buddy Volunteer' and provide one-to-one support to individuals who want to become volunteers themselves but who need to build up their confidence first, before working on their own.
Engagement Gateway Clients need support for a wide range of reasons: for example, they are recovering from mental and/or physical illness, they find it difficult in large groups, they are uncomfortable travelling to new places or they have poor basic skills or a learning disability.
This is a good volunteering opportunity for those who are unable to commit for a longer period or who just want a taster of volunteering before they go further. For those who currently volunteer, this could be an chance to widen their volunteering experiences.
The placements can last from 4 sessions up to 10. Placements are varied, but almost all take place Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm. You might be asked to take part in one off training sessions whilst supporting your trainee volunteer.
View our Case Study in the 'Resources' column to the right of this page for more information.
