Smart Steps - Supporting Children and Their Families
Smart Steps offers support friendship and practical help to families with at least one child from birth to 11 Families must either live in the catchment are of, or attend school, in one of the following primary schools: Blaenymaes, Clwyd, Portmead, Clase, Townhill, Seaview and Gors.
Volunteers help parents going through difficult times, offering:
- Support for you and your child to work and play together
- Practical help with routines and homework
- Support for Parent or child's disability, ill health or special needs
- Low key social and emotional support
Smart Steps also has its own parent-toddler group which meets every Tuesday morning for which free transport is provided. Volunteers help with the running of the group, and also by encouraging families to get involved with play, craft and general interaction.
Volunteers can also provide support for pre-school children and their parents in Flying Start groups.
