National Volunteers Week takes place from 1st - 7th June each year, and is a chance to recognise and reward your volunteers, and recruit new volunteers to your projects.
There are many activities being planned for Swansea during Volunteers Week 2008, details of which will be posted here as they are available.
Confirmed so far:
* Organisations will be invited to take part in the 'Be a Part of Swansea's Vibrant Voluntary Sector' flag initiative, which was so successful in 2006. A booking form and covering letter are available to download below, and flags will be available for groups to collect from the SCVS office in the week of the 27th of May.
* Monday 2nd June: SCVS volunteering staff will be available for advice and guidance on volunteering and finding the right volunteering opportunity at the trailer outside Marks and Spencer's in the City Centre from 9.30 until 4.30pm
* Monday 2nd June: SCVS Youth Volunteer Advisor will be at Swansea College promoting volunteering in the Foyer of the college from 10-3pm
* Wednesday 4th June: There will be a walk to highlight awareness of volunteering and volunteers along the sea front from The Junction in Blackpill to Verdi's in Mumbles at 2pm
* Thursday 5th June: Information about the wide range of volunteering opportunities in Swansea will be available during the day in 'The Pod' at Morfa Retail Park
* Swansea Sound, 11.30am each morning throughout the week: There will be a 15 min slot on Swansea Sound Radio where the benefits of volunteering, how to volunteer and other issues surrounding volunteering will be discussed (Swansea Sound, 1170 MW, DAB or visit: http://www.swanseasound.co.uk/stream2.php to listen live on your PC)
* There will be AMs (Assembly Members) attending the events throughout the week.

Other activities taking place in Swansea during Volunteers Week 2008:
Childline Cymru: As part of Volunteers Week, ChildLine will be hosting Volunteer Information Meetings at Swansea Library, County Hall, Oystermouth Road, Swansea on Saturday, June 7th. The meetings are scheduled to start at 11:00am; 1:00pm & 3:00pm. There will be a chance for anyone interested in volunteering for ChildLine to speak to staff and volunteers, and to pick up an application pack.
