We Pay, Who Gains?
Successful 2011/12 Applicants
·Kaleidoscope: Awarded £1573.50. Kaleidoscope provide young people with training and experience in Creative industries. They benefit the wider community by helping to express interests of concerns through an artistic process
· Fragments of Fashion - Awarded- £1095. Fragments of Fashion plans to set up a fashion show to raise money for SNAP Cymru. This will benefit those involved as they will gain new skills and will benefit the wider community by making everyone more aware of additional learning needs.
·Mixtup - Awarded - £660. Mixtup is a monthly youth club for young people of mixed abilities, including physical abilities. The youth club benefits young people in Swansea who have disabilities and also increased the understanding and awareness of disabilities in the wider community.
· Red Radio & Film. Awarded- £1875.50. Red Radio is run by Red Cafe and is a radio station run by young people. Red Radio benefits young people in Swansea, young people who aren't in school, older people at risk of isolation, people with Alzheimer's and their carers, residents of Mumbles nursing home and their families, children and their families coming to school holiday community cafes, local schools and young people's groups.
Successful 2010/11 Applicants
St Madocs Sports Improvement Program
Three committed young people at St Madocs Christian Youth Camp have been successful in obtaining £2000 to fund a three stage sport development program to set up a volunteer run archery range.
Briars Project
Young people from this supported housing project were awarded £1980 for a teambuilding trip to build life and communication skills including accredited training.
EYST (Ethnic Youth Support Team) Girls
Young women at the EYST centre have secured £1000 to set up a multi faith corner in order to become better informed about their own and other's faiths. The corner will be open to all that access the centre.
Swansea Community Farm Youth Forum
The group of young people that run the cinema club at Swansea Community Farm received £700 towards installing a hearing loop and heater to improve access to the cinema evenings.
Morriston Girls Group
This group of young women were awarded £1900 to organise and hold a Christmas fete for Morriston residents of all ages. They hope this will bring the community together and break down the barriers between different generations.
Morriston Events Team (MET)
This team of young people received £1990.50 to fund a fashion show within the local Comprehensive School to bring people together and show them what young people can do.

Beekeeping Project
£1998.70 was awarded to a group of young people to set up a Beekeeping project as a means to raise awareness and highlight the importance of bee colonies. Young people are to become trained apiarists as they will be involved in the beekeeping and will deliver awareness sessions to local children and young people.
Green Tangent
This local youth led conservation project received funds of £1993.42 to further develop their project through additional training, extra equipment and admin and insurance costs.
Clwb Clip
A group of young people from Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr interested in IT and film making were awarded £2000 for equipment to produce a regular film about young people's news and issues important to them. The group members plan to develop and share their skills with younger pupils.
Swansea Foyer Young People's Committee
The young people of this committee were successful in obtaining £2000 for a graffiti art project. The funds will be used for an education visit to Bristol to view public displays of graffiti as inspiration, renovation costs to prepare an appropriate surface and the materials to produce the work of art.
African Community Centre Youth Forum
Young people from the African Community Centre obtained funds of £1900 towards the resources required to set up a Youth Drop in Centre. The centre will be home to a homework club, provide IT support to attendees and a relaxation space.

Click, Click, Snap
Young people from Blaenymaes Youth Support Centre were successful in their application for funds of £1975 towards equipment and training to develop their skills in filming and video editing skills. The equipment will be available to other community and youth groups who also wish to develop their skills.
Garnswllt Group
A group of young people from Garnswllt applied for funds to buy and store sports equipment that could be used by the local community in order to bring people together to have fun. The group were successful in being awarded £300 from the Swansea Youth Bank panel.

2008/09 Projects - And the money goes to….
Swansea Youth Bank have now decided on who all of the 2008 grants will be given to. The letters have been sent and the money is slowly making its way to all the eleven final projects!
The Youth Bankers spent a few weeks discussing the applications that they received and the following projects were those chosen to receive the Youth Bank funding.
*SNPT Young Carers project (Crossroads) will be running cookery classes between their group to make 'how-to-cook' DVDs for other young carers through Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot.
- *Young people in Clydach received funding to create hampers for people over the Christmas period. These hampers were given out to people who were in need in their local community.

*The FabFive+1 in Penlan have put a plan together to decorate and refurbish a communal room in the North Penlan Community Centre. The room will be for all ages to use and enjoy.
*Boombox, a young people's magazine will be filmed and uploaded to the internet for more accessible viewing. The funding received will give the young people an opportunity to develop new skills, get more young people working with the project and to set up a virtual TV studio.
*Young people working with the Local Aid Charity will be buying computer equipment and receiving training to put charity shop items onto Ebay.
* 'Buddies', another group of young people involved with Local Aid have been funded to plan, prepare and organise the Buddies project days out. The young volunteers will gain experiences and training while making a big difference to the young people with disabilities.
*Young women at Stadwen Youth Centre have received funding to run health and beauty workshops to improve self esteem and confidence and help young people see themselves in a positive light.
*Barriers will be broken down in Dunvant and Killay as a group of young women are funded to run and film various fundraising events in their local community. The money they raise will go to the British Heart Foundation. Go Girls!!! 
*SYB has funded the African Community Centre Dance Classes. We liked this project for a variety of reasons for instance we found that it gives young people the opportunity to learn new skills and learn about other cultures.
*SYB are giving young people in Swansea College the opportunity to plan and organise their own art work, have pride in their work whilst their talent is recognised.
*SA1 Youth Club will be able to provide opportunities for children from 5-11 years of age thanks to the funding from Swansea Youth Bank. It is fully youth led by young volunteers who will develop valuable leadership skills through this project.

The Youth Bankers have worked extremely hard to make these decisions and now look forward to watching these projects take place.
