National Occupational Standards for Volunteer Managers

If you manage volunteers as part of your work role, there are Management of Volunteers National Occupational Standards available to you. Volunteer managers work at different levels and carry out different functions, depending on the nature, size and structure of their organisation and their level of responsibility within it.

National Occupational Standards define good practice in the way people work, based on the functions of their jobs. They can be regarded as quality standards for people.

The National Occupational Standards for Volunteer Managers cover issues such as developing policy, promoting volunteering, recruitment and induction, management, development and support of volunteers and management of yourself and your relationship to volunteers.

These standards are available to view and download on www.voluntarysectorskills.org.uk
