Community Shares logoPublic services in Wales have faced the most aggressive financial squeeze since the Second World War and the full effects are still being realised.

The Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 is starting to make public bodies think about the long-term relationship with its communities and how to deliver a more joined up approach to ensure that vital services are retained and safeguarded.

With reductions in funding for communities happening in tandem, communities are getting more actively involved by looking at new and innovative ways to finance community ventures. Community Shares is becoming a model that could be a source of finance for future generations.

At this event, hosted by Wales Cooperative Centre Community Shares Wales team in partnership with the Welsh Local Government Association, you will hear about how Welsh local authorities are already using Community Shares to address issues such as asset management and community regeneration. The schemes showcased will promote different models of what partnership with communities could look like for public bodies.
