This information session will provide an interactive exploration of the best practice in using DBS checks.

Delivered by WCVA’s Safeguarding Officer, it is designed to support the people who make volunteer placement or employment decisions and others such as ID verifiers who are active in the DBS checking process.

Course Learning Objectives:

  • How does a DBS check contribute to safeguarding (what it is, what it can tell us, what it is not)
  • Using DBS checks to make a placement/employment decision (regulated activity, risk assessment, relevant offences)
  • Best practice in response to DBS check content

Course Fees:

  • SCVS Members - Half Day Course £10
  • Non SCVS Members / Individuals - Half Day Course £75

To ensure that the payment of fees is not a barrier to attending courses, we provide some places at reduced cost to individuals receiving benefit/out of county third sector organisations. Please contact the Training Team if you would like to apply for a bursary.
