This course will support you to develop your awareness of equalities issues, as they relate to the lives of people with disabilities.

We will explore Social and Medical Models of disability, disability and language, as well as how to offer appropriate assistance.

The course is essential for anyone wishing to develop their own awareness of disability equalities issues and for staff and volunteers wishing to ensure that they are working to good practice guidelines in the services and opportunities offered to people with disabilities.

This course aims to introduce Disability as an Equal Opportunities issue, to examine key differences between Disability Awareness and Disability Equality training and finally to consider co-production and employment for disabled people.

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • List barriers that Disable people in our community
  • Explore the social construction of disability
  • Offer appropriate assistance to Disabled People
  • Know how to employ more disabled people in co- production of services

  • SCVS Members - Half Day Course £10
  • Non SCVS Members / Individuals - Half Day Course £75
