Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM Event Bawso is partnering with the West Glamorgan safeguarding board to bring you experiences from survivors of FGM, presentations and provide an opportunity to ask your questions from specialist panellists at their UN International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Event. The event will be held online via Zoom, providing the opportunity to host an International event that is attended by people from all over the world. 10:45am – 12.30pm, 25th February 2021 The UN aims to end FGM by 2030 so it’s important that we keep raising awareness for this goal to be met in order to save the lives of millions of women and girls around the world. In Wales, Bawso is at the forefront in the fight to eradicate Female Genital Mutilation. It established the FGM Health and Safeguarding project in 2010 which aims to develop and strengthen community-based preventive work to safeguard those at risk. Since the start of the project they have worked with over 5000 families to raise awareness about the issues in order to protect women and girls at risk of FGM and provide support to survivors. The community-based approach has been a success because the community are the key drivers of change to make Wales an FGM free nation. They are involved in the design and delivery of activities. No pre-booking required, the session will be available on Zoom between 10.45am-12.30pm, 25th February by clicking here (Meeting ID: 336 795 5357 / Passcode: 350634) For more information, contact [email protected] Booking for this event has now closed.
