On 25 May 2018, data protection laws underwent their biggest change in almost 20 years when the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came in to force.

This interactive training course will provide an overview of the GDPR and the key changes that it introduced, as well as examining how the law is being applied in a practical sense.

Specific aspects that will be covered include:

  • GDPR lessons that have been learned so far
  • practical considerations for compliance
  • a series of case studies, identifying common GDPR concerns and how they can be addressed.
  • The course will be of benefit to anyone who processes data on a regular basis, and those who have specific data protection responsibilities within their organisation.

Course objectives:

  • Be familiar with the key changes that have been introduced by the GDPR
  • Identify practical measures that organisations can have in place to ensure compliance with the GDPR
  • Understand what is required of their organisation to demonstrate compliance with data protection laws.

Course Fees:

  • SCVS Members - Half Day Course - £10
  • Non SCVS Members / Individuals - Full Day Course - £75

To ensure that the payment of fees is not a barrier to attending courses, we provide some places at reduced cost to individuals receiving benefit/out of county third sector organisations. Please contact the Training Team if you would like to apply for a bursary.
