The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force over a year ago, and with it came increased public awareness of the rights that people have around how their data can be handled. With that in mind, organisations can’t afford to operate in a non-compliant way, but the GDPR is a complex piece of legislation and putting theory into practice isn’t always easy.

Specific aspects that will be covered include:

  • An overview of key aspects of the GDPR
  • A round-up of real life cases that have been dealt with under the new legislation, and lessons we can learn from them; and
  • A series of case studies to work through and glean top tips from, for practical areas that organisations can focus on.

The course will be of benefit to anyone who processes data on a regular basis, and those who have specific data protection responsibilities within their organisation.

Course objectives:

  • Be familiar with the key themes that run through the GDPR
  • Identify practical measures that organisations can focus on having in place to ensure continued compliance with the GDPR; and
  • Understand what is required of their organisation to demonstrate compliance.

Course Fees:

  • SCVS Members - Half Day Course - £10
  • Non SCVS Members / Individuals - Full Day Course - £75

To ensure that the payment of fees is not a barrier to attending courses, we provide some places at reduced cost to individuals receiving benefit/out of county third sector organisations. Please contact the Training Team if you would like to apply for a bursary.
