Mindfulness can help us with both our emotional suffering and physical pain.

Learning mindfulness helps us to recognise how some of our thinking patterns and the things we say to ourselves when we’re experiencing difficulty in life might actually be making us feel worse. We learn skills for stepping back and seeing more clearly how we might respond to the inevitable challenges of life.

Results from lots of different research trials consistently show that learning mindfulness can significantly reduce the risk of experiencing mental ill health and can improve overall wellbeing. This taster session will introduce you to some simple mindfulness practices and provide you with information about what’s included in a full 8 week mindfulness course.

SCVS hopes to secure funding to offer the full 8 week course later in the year. If you’re interested in coming along to the full course, the first step is attending a taster session, where you’ll be asked to complete a simple wellbeing questionnaire.  Mindfulness courses are suitable for most people – the information you provide will help you and the mindfulness trainer make a decision together about whether this a good time for you to start learning mindfulness.
