Building Caring Communities is a process to help communities become stronger and to improve the well-being of all citizens. It identifies the things that make communities and individuals strong and encourages communities to focus on factors that promote health and well-being.

10am – 12.45pm, Friday 1st February 2019 - Baglan Community Church - The Centre, Lodge Dr, Port Talbot SA12 8UB

Often when looking at creating caring communities and reducing social isolation and loneliness we are referring to supporting older people; but loneliness and isolation can affect anyone at any point in their lives, whether they are a young person, carer, veteran, or part of a marginalized community.

Everyone has a role within caring communities as a beneficiary or as a provider, so how do we, collectively, help facilitate bringing communities closer?

We need to consider how we are supporting our communities to help us identify what gaps are out there. Let’s share all the incredible things that you are doing to address loneliness and isolation.

This session includes:

  • Loneliness and Isolation – Connected Communities- Welsh Assembly Government;
  • Combatting loneliness and isolation amongst older people - Neath Port Talbot County Voluntary Council;
  • Impact of Loneliness and Isolation on Veterans – What is being done: Changing Steps;
  • Importance of tackling loneliness and isolation with Carers – Bridgend Carers Centre;
  • Cwm Taf – Loneliness and Isolation Board – Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil
