Community Health Council Wales logoThe Welsh Government consultation on a new arrangement to replace CHCs ends on the 29th September. Under the proposals the new body would have a very different role which does not include listening to people about their services or holding care providers to account for the services they deliver.

The Board of Community Health Councils in Wales have been out this summer asking people all over Wales what they think of the proposals, and what they think a new body should do. They’d like to thank the hundreds of people who shared their views with them whilst out and about or attending a show or festival. Over 600 people filled out a written response to send to Welsh Government.

People told them that they wanted a stronger people’s voice body. They wanted the new body to be independent, to be able to hear directly from people about their experience and to have the power to challenge care providers on their behalf. They’ve used what people told them to inform their own ideas for a new people’s voice body.
