Healthy Homes Health People logoWarm Wales offers extra help to local people to stay warm and safe in their homes. All support is provided free of charge, the project is sponsored by gas line company Wales & West Utilities Ltd.

During the challenging times of Covid 19, they are offering ‘home’ visits via telephone or zoom (an invitation link is sent via email) and 3-way telephone calls to help with referrals/support from providers whilst working from home.

The Healthy Homes, Healthy People Project Community Workers can help to identify what support may be available for the person. They could save money and help them to have a warmer, safer home.

They can help:

  • save money on energy and water bills – gain cheaper tariffs, discounts and savings and
  • help with debt issues. We can email water reduction forms on their behalf to gain savings on bills;
  • register on the Priority Services Register (PSR) for gas, electricity and water. This ensures extra support and advice (e.g. advance notice of planned cuts, priority support in a power cut, providing heating and cooking appliances if your gas supply is interrupted etc.);
  • maximise people’s income and improve budgeting;
  • connect to the gas network;
  • replace old heating systems; assisting with referrals to Nest (Nest is a Welsh Government funded scheme providing free boilers & other heating systems to households that qualify on benefit or health criteria);
  • install a cooker locking valve;
  • gain safety measures such as carbon monoxide detectors, and smoke alarms;
  • gain adaptations to the home: e.g. grab rails, level access showers, stairlifts etc.
