QAVS LogoThe Queen's Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities.

Created in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of The Queen's coronation, it is the MBE for volunteer groups.

Although nominations can be made at any time of year, in order to be in with a chance of receiving an award in 2018 nominations must be received by 15th September 2017.

Previous Swansea winners include Swansea City of Sanctuary in 2017, and Penllergare Valley Woods in 2016.

Any group doing volunteer work that provides a social, economic or environmental service to the local community can be nominated for the award, with each group assessed on the benefit it brings, and standing within, the local community.
