SCVS receive Silver Small Workplace Health Award Healthy Working Wales, a Welsh Government scheme, offers free help and support to any business with a base in Wales. Their awards programme provides national recognition for businesses that look after the health and wellbeing of their employees, and SCVS were delighted in August to receive the Silver Small Workplace Award. The awards support employers across Wales to improve the health and wellbeing of their staff, engage and communicate with employees more effectively, and help to achieve a range of business and organisational outcomes. There are two award Schemes, the Corporate Health Award, which is available to organisations with more than 50 employees and the Small Workplace Award, which is available to organisations with less than 50 employees. Amy Meredith Davies, one of SCVS’ Health Social Care & Well-being Facilitators, who led on our work surrounding the Award said: "We received the Bronze award back in 2014, so going for the Silver award was the next logical step and something that we were keen to do. The whole process was simple and straight forward, we found that we were already meeting a lot of the criteria for the silver level so for us it’s great to have the opportunity to celebrate this and receive an award that recognises our commitment as an organisation to the health and well being of staff. We were also able to implement some changes, (which were highlighted as a result of going through the assessment process), allowing us to put in place some simple but effective ways to support the health and well being of staff. Some of the things that we have implemented have included the creation of a new well being room for staff, as well as organising a series of talks such as a stress busting session delivered by Wellbeing through work, a Healthy Eating session delivered by HWB Abertawe and information on the NHS Screening Programmes, which was delivered by Public Health Wales. We would like to thank Rhian Parry from Public Health Wales for her support in helping us to achieve the award and we very much look forward to building on this work and going for the Gold award shortly."
