New volunteering platform to launch SCVS and its Volunteer Centre are part of Third Sector Support Wales (TSSW) – the umbrella name for the Third Sector support infrastructure in Wales. In the next couple of months, we introduce a new digital platform enabling organisations to advertise for, recruit and manage volunteers, and for volunteers to find suitable roles. The new bi-lingual platform is free to use, and provides improved functionality for organisations and volunteers. It replaces the previous Wales wide volunteering platform volunteering-wales, and will use the same web address: www.volunteering-wales.net. Improved experience for volunteers Volunteers will be able to find opportunities by searching for keywords or according to distance from their home location; log the hours and skills they gain through volunteering and will receive digital badges for volunteering 50, 100, 200 hours or more; and easily share news about their volunteering activity on social media. For organisations - What you need to do If your organisation involves volunteers in its work, whether you were registered on the previous version of volunteering-wales or not, you will need to register on the new site and add your opportunities for potential volunteers to find you. The new system will help you recruit and manage volunteers, log volunteer hours, plan rotas and events, record training and experience and produce reports. It is a great idea having one central site for all volunteering opportunities, organisations and volunteers, it should be easier to manage and provide a bigger volunteer pool for organisations Marina, Run4Wales A wealth of online management tools are available on the platform to make administrative tasks quicker and easier, and to allow you more time to spend supporting volunteers, improving volunteer experiences and celebrating the difference that they make to your organisation. If you are an organisation that recruits and manages volunteers, click here to register with the new site and start posting your volunteering opportunities. If you need any assistance, please contact Nicola Nicholls: [email protected] Volunteers searching for opportunities can continue to use volunteering-wales as normal, but will notice a change to the appearance and function of the site during April.
