Young Persons Worker

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week - some weekend and evening work will be required.        

Salary: £22,358 per annum / Duration: Permanent, in line with funding 

Barod are looking to recruit a Young Persons Worker to motivate young persons affected by substance misuse to work towards engaging with educational, training, vocational or employment opportunities.

The post holder will be responsible for recognising indications of substance misuse and acting upon immediate risk of danger to substance users. The post holder will also work in accordance with the practice of “harm reduction” in substance use work by support individuals who are distressed, and referring individuals to specialists, whilst supporting individuals to access and use services and facilities. The post holder will deliver healthcare services by supplying and exchanging injecting equipment for individuals and assess substance misusers care needs by carrying out a comprehensive substance misuse assessment to identify and prioritise needs and referrals. The post holder will also undertake assessment and referral process, assessing referral eligibility and suitability accepting or refusing referrals re-routing referrals where appropriate, allocating work.
