Chinese in Wales Association CIWA logoChinese In Wales Association (CIWA) is a charity which aims to deliver services that make a positive difference to the lives of ethnic Chinese residents in Wales.

CIWA was set up to meet the changing demographic needs of the Chinese community in Wales. CIWA has its headquarter based in Swansea which provides core services such as language services in Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka-Chinese, and English, advocacy, and case referral. Based on their capability, they advise on local welfare, housing, healthcare, education and employment.

They also organise social and educational activities and participate in the promotion of a diverse, multi-cultural society.

CIWA are looking for up to three new trustees to join them and take the organisation forward:

One individual with financial management skills,

A young trustee who could support the organisation’s youth activities, and

Someone who already has experience of being a trustee

They should be enthusiastic, motivated and reliable to help govern the organisation effectively.

Recently the organisation has held Chinese New Year Celebrations and cultural activities, and run projects to meet various needs of the community, such as You are not alone project to improve wellbeing of carers, Chinese Autism Support to support autistic children and their family.

Trustees are required to attend Board meetings at least quarterly or when necessary.

Reasonable travel costs to attend meetings or carry out trustee duties can be reimbursed.

CIWA welcomes interested individuals to request an informal discussion about the organisation and role of trustee.
