Discovery 50 logoSwansea University’s volunteer-led charity, Discovery SVS, has been empowering disadvantaged people in Swansea and Zambia for fifty years.

Each year, more than 300 student volunteers deliver community-based projects to enrich the lives of adults and children with disabilities, elderly people, those suffering mental health issues, and refugees and asylum seekers. In 2014, the organisation received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

Volunteer Recruitment and Office Support Worker

  • Salary – £16,562 pro rata (£11,593 actual)
  • 30 hours per week, term time only, this will equate to 10 months a year with 2 week at Christmas, 2 weeks at Easter and the month of August not included in the contract.
  • Normal working hours will be 10 to 4.30 per day with a half hour unpaid lunch break,
  • Pension 5% employer contribution to NEST scheme
  • Start date 11th September 2017, this post is subject to a probationary period of 6 months

The role

This is a complex, public facing role in a busy dynamic office. The post holder will support the recruitment of new volunteers, support them through their induction to the organisation, deal with queries and enquiries and support the smooth running of the organisation by undertaking promotion, logistic and administrative tasks.
