Faith in Families logo 2022Faith in Families want to give all children in Swansea a voice, give them a choice and give them a brighter future. They want to reach out to them with the opportunities to thrive.

Faith in Families are looking to recruit trustees to its board to ensure the long-term sustainability of this essential charity.

31% of children in Wales live in severe poverty. Over 13,500 children are living in crisis in our town – to put this in prospective this would fill more than half the Swansea.com stadium. These children are not heard about, seen, and often ignored.

They cant do this alone, and need the support of every sector to help them make the difference where it really does count so that together we can make Swansea a wonderful place for everyone.

Faith in Families projects work to change surviving to thriving, in non-prescriptive, non-directional ways, they give people ways to cope and the skills for their future.

Childhood is a golden part of our life that we can never go back to. Help Faith in Families to build brighter futures across Swansea.

The Role:

The board of Faith in Families provides strategic leadership to the charity to ensure it delivers on its mission, it reaches as many families as it can and is itself sustainable.

The Charity, which was born out of the Swansea Disocesan Board for Social Responsibility in 1999 is seeking to broaden the diversity of its board and attract people with the knowledge and skills we need to move forward in a time which is challenging for all families but particularly for those living in poverty.

Faith in Families are particularly keen to hear from people with the following skills:

Business Development – they are keen to explore how they can generate income from trading

Finance – Faith in Families is keen to attract a board member who can ensure they make best use of their funding and demonstrate sound fiscal oversight

Fundraising – Faith in Families rely on grants and it would be great to attract someone with fundraising experience who can give them a steer on best practice and helpful tips

Just think, how wonderful would it be if Swansea was a great place for everyone to live, work, play and grow. A city where every child could reach their potential, a space for everyone to contribute to their neighbourhoods.

This can only happen if we acknowledge that there are so many children growing up in our communities whose parents can’t afford the basic things in life like food and clothing and recognise that not everyone can take part in the luxuries of play and rest that is so vital to a child’s development.

Help make this dream a reality and join the board of a charity making a real difference to the lives of families in Swansea.
