Gorseinon Development Trust logo

The Gorseinon Development Trust “GDT” is a charity which aims to promote the social and economic regeneration of Gorseinon and the surrounding area.

They operate from the spacious Canolfan Gorseinon on Millers Road, where they run a successful children’s nursery [Trusting Hands], provide rented offices for local small businesses, host conferences and seminars with catering facilities, and make space available for community groups to hold meetings and events. There is so much more they’d like to do!

Could you help make a real difference?

They are looking for new Trustees to join Their board. You should be passionate about wanting to make a difference, and value all people regardless of disability, gender or race. Whether you’re an experienced trustee, or wanting to take your first steps at Board level, they would love to hear from you.

They particularly welcome applications from local people whose skills & life experiences could help make Gorseinon an even more rewarding place to live and work, as they want the composition of the Board to reflect the diversity of the local community.

The trustees manage the services which GDT currently provide, and would also like to increase their range of specific skills and experience. In particular they welcome applications from those with a background in one or more of income generation, IT, marketing, and HR.

Your commitment

They want hands-on Trustees who have the time actively to make a difference to the running of the charity and its growth. Trustees are expected to attend one board meeting every two months, and to get involved in a particular activity or area of the charity’s work.

If you’re also able to give some additional time to contribute to working groups, policy discussions & fundraising opportunities on an ad-hoc basis, then that would be great but is not essential. Although trustees give their time for free, travel costs and other reasonable out-of-pocket expenses are payable.

Their commitment to you

Being a Trustee is extremely rewarding and you can develop new skills and experience in leadership, management and governance even if you are previously unfamiliar with working as part of committees. You will have opportunities to shape innovative projects, and to improve the wellbeing of local people and the community. They offer training & support to all trustees.

What next?

Please send an email to [email protected] and they will arrange an initial informal meeting prior to formal application and interview form.

Closing date is Friday 28th June 2019.
