Swansea Volunteer Centre - so many ways they can help you with volunteers! The Volunteer Centre team at SCVS are ready and waiting to support voluntary and community organisations in Swansea with their volunteering needs. Regular enquiries from potential volunteers - The Volunteer Centre are approached by people wanting to know about local good quality volunteering opportunities every day - let them know about your volunteering opportunities so they can send potential volunteers to you. Youth volunteering – Does your group offer youth volunteering opportunities? They have a dedicated youth* volunteer officer in the team, and are passionate about helping the local third sector to find the newest generation of volunteers. (*Younger volunteers are usually those under 25, but there are far less opportunities for those under 18, and even less for those under 16. If you would like to discuss what is needed for the youngest volunteers the team can provide you with information.) Employer supported volunteering – Do you have volunteering opportunities that would be suitable for groups of between 10 and 20 people? The team are regularly asked to find volunteering opportunities for local employer groups, so if you have a one off or larger scale project suitable for a group, let them know! Volunteering Wales - If you haven’t already registered your Swansea opportunities on the national Volunteering Wales site, visit: www.volunteering-wales.net (If you’re having trouble registering or navigating the site, the Volunteer Centre team can help). Social media – The Volunteer Centre is very active on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook where they share information to inspire local people to volunteer. Follow their accounts (@VolSwansea on X and @SwanseaVolunteerCentre on Facebook) and they will share your volunteer recruitment posters and information. You can tag them, or send posters direct (jpeg or png files please). The team have found that eye-catching posters that don’t have too much text, but do have your contact details get the best response. They also love to share photos of volunteers making a difference locally or facts, stats and quotes about volunteering; so please pass them on! Training - There are training courses and development sessions linked to volunteering in this term’s SCVS main training programme – have a look and book on asap so that you don’t miss out. Swansea Volunteer Manager Forum - The team also facilitate Swansea Volunteer Manager Forum which is a great way of networking and developing your volunteer manager skills. Membership is free, and the forum meets in Swansea every 2 months (sometimes online sometimes face to face). They would love you to join! Click here for more information.
