Swansea Carers Centre logoSwansea Carers Centre is a local, independent charity that has proved to be very effective over the last twelve years in raising the profile of adult carers.

In addition to core funding from Swansea Council, they have been successful with many bids to a range of funders which has enabled them to extend the services and activities offered to carers. Their mission is to make a positive difference to the lives of carers.

This project involves providing a quality support service for carers and families of children 0-25 with disabilities/ additional needs.

Swansea Carers Centre - Helping Family Carers Parent Carer Advocacy and Support Officer

  • 28 hours a week
  • Salary: £22,131.20 (pro-rata)
  • Funded until Dec 2022

To enable parent carers to:

  • Maximise income
  • Have increased knowledge on carers rights
  • Have improved health /well-being
  • Have the opportunity to share knowledge/ meet others, work with local service providers to develop/improve the delivery of services

The role will also provide:

  1. 1 to 1 advocacy support for parent carers and sandwich carers
  2. Provide information and support
  3. Develop online Advocacy toolkit to include letter templates, FAQ’s, meeting plans, advice in process
  4. Increase social media presence
  5. Develop easy read tools
  6. Maintain and support groups Swansea Carers Centre groups for carers supported by the project
