Community-Led Sustainable Transport - Resources ‘Getting Around Swansea’, the Community-Led Sustainable Transport Solutions project aimed to strengthen sustainable transport and active travel in Swansea, focusing on what communities can do for themselves to solve their travel and transport challenges. During 2022 SCVS worked in partnership with 4theRegion and Swansea Environmental Forum to identify local transport and travel needs, and co-produce ways to solve them. The project focused on addressing social isolation, promoting community cohesion, enabling better access to services and employment, improving health and wellbeing and tackling the decarbonisation imperative. As the project ends, a wide range of bilingual resources have been developed to support groups and individuals to continue to develop the solutions they need to address transportation issues in their communities - use the index below to explore and download: Index: Introduction Community Car and Van Guides Community Cycle Guides Community Bus Guides Other useful Guides Case Studies FilmsLearning and recommendations from the Project Introduction Introduction to setting up a Community Transport Scheme Cyflwyniad - Sefydlu Cynlluniau Cludiant Cymunedol Back to Index Community Car and Van Guides Setting up a volunteer community car scheme Cynllun ceir gwirfoddol Setting up a community car club Clwb ceir cymunedol Setting up a community van scheme Sefydlu Cynllun Fan Cymunedol Decarbonising community-led transport Datgarboneiddio cludiant a arweinir gan y gymuned Back to Index Community Cycle Guides Setting up a community cycle scheme Cynllun beicio cymunedol Setting up a community cycle repair scheme Sefydlu cynllun atgyweirio beiciau cymunedol Promoting & supporting cycling in your community Hybu a chefnogi beicio yn eich cymuned Back to Index Community Bus Guides Setting up a routed community bus service Bws cymunedol â llwybrau Setting up a dial-a-ride community bus service Sefydlu gwasanaeth bws cymunedol galw am daith Setting up a community night bus service Sefydlu gwasanaeth bws nos cymunedol Setting up a transport companion service Sefydlu gwasanaeth cludiant â hydymaith Back to Index Other useful Guides Securing funding and support for community-led transport Sicrhau cyllid a chymorth ar gyfer cludiant a arweinir gan y gymuned How to recruit and support volunteers Recriwtio gwirfoddolwyr Organising community engagement events / activities Recriwtio a chefnogi gwirfoddolwyr Setting-up a community transport booking system Sefydlu system archebu cludiant Back to Index Case Studies Urban Foundry compiled Case Studies for five of the pilots, to showcase the project and share key learning. Back to Index Learning and recommendations from the Project Evaluation The partners commissioned Urban Foundry to undertake an evaluation of the project, based on the Theory of Change Model. Read the Project Evaluation here Route Map The Route Map contains a shared vision for what needs to happen to support and sustain community-led transport. It is based on the needs identified from the engagement work as part of the project. The Route Map was coproduced with the stakeholders involved in the project and highlights short and longer term recommended actions. Read the Route Map here Pobl group received grant funding from the CFR Community-led Transport project to commission an ‘Options Appraisal’ on Sustainable Community Transport in Penderi. The Options Appraisal was completed by Fairer Futures and can be found below to share learning from the project. Executive Summary - Sustainable Community Transport in Penderi Full Report - Sustainable Community Transport in Penderi Back to Index We hope you find these resources useful, but if you need support or advice to develop your ideas please contact us at [email protected] Project Background: The Community-led Transport Solutions Swansea project is funded by the Community Renewal Fund (CRF). It is a programme being delivered collaboratively by a broad partnership of organisations / stakeholders. The funding received from CRF delivered a programme of activities to strengthen sustainable transport and active travel in Swansea, with a focus on what communities can do for themselves to solve their own travel and transport challenges. The project also looked to address social isolation, promote community cohesion, enable better access to services and employment, improve health and wellbeing, and tackle the decarbonisation imperative. A range of engagement work took place across Swansea during 2022 to determine the challenges people faced when getting around Swansea and potential solutions to these issues, with communities encouraged to come forward with new initiatives. Existing community-led transport projects that were looking to use innovative ways to improve their services or cut their carbon and become more sustainable were also supported. During the course of this project, Race Council Cymru, Pobl, Bikeability, Cyldach Shopper Bus (Clydach community), Pennard Community Bus (Pennard community), Centre for African Entrepreneurship and Pontarddulais and District Community Car Scheme were identified and actively supported to set-up, develop or expand a sustainable transport initiative pilot project, in order to “learn by doing” and share that knowledge and experience with the wider network. These findings will also be available by the end of 2022. Manage Cookie Preferences
