Interact logoOur Interact scheme supports adults referred by Social Workers from the Adult Services team. Our Volunteers are placed with individuals with a variety of support needs and aim to reduce isolation and loneliness, increase confidence and encourage people to engage with and be active members of the community.

Individuals may be referred for support for a physical disability, mild learning disability or isolation. Our volunteers visit individuals on a weekly basis, either in their homes, or can support them to access suitable activities in their communities, perhaps by going to look around the shops and going for coffee or lunch.

We encourage, individuals and support them to make their own choices, increasing their confidence and building self esteem, by accessing local services and facilities, creating new social links and developing wider social networks through meeting like minded people.

All our volunteers are fully trained and have support from a volunteering development officer. Our volunteers are required to communicate with staff on a regular basis, either by telephone, through supervision, or training and support sessions.  Volunteer expenses, will be reimbursed at an agreed amount.

In a recent review, several individuals commented on how much they valued their volunteer.  They appreciated the commitment the volunteer gave and the time they spent with them.

Our volunteers have also commented, that they have improved their job prospects and discovered new leisure opportunities and a wider social network. Volunteers may use their own cars or if they prefer public transport.
