Our Neighbourhood Project The ‘Our Neighbourhood Project’ focusses on the strengths that exist in local areas to create engaged and well-connected communities placing people at the heart of health and wellbeing. Funded by the West Glamorgan Regional Partnership. The project brings people together as a collective to share their skills to develop and grow grassroots projects, activities and schemes that will enrich their lives and the lives of other residents. The project is also undertaking asset mapping within the local area, identifying support groups, local services, green spaces, and more. Here’s how you can get involved… Co-producing projects or services with ‘Our Neighbourhood’ We know that it’s people’s skills, interests and ‘lived experience’ which creates strong community resources, so the ‘Our Neighbourhood Project’ focusses on linking with people to develop and grow local groups and activities to enhance the lives of community members. We have no age restriction for involvement, and would love to work with a wide variety of people and groups. This could include schools, social groups, peer support groups, hobby groups, supported housing projects and more. What you can expect from us: Professional Support from the Our Neighbourhood Development worker, to help grow your idea or project, Access to a variety of training, Opportunity to be involved in the design, development and delivery of new groups or services that will benefit the local community. Community Volunteering Opportunities Volunteering is a great opportunity to get to know people, learn new skills and make a difference to people in your community. Part of ONA is to create volunteering roles within our projects. You will be offered training, out of pocket expenses and ongoing support with the role. Examples of these roles include Men’s Group volunteers or Flower collection and delivery volunteers. For more information email [email protected] Digital Volunteering Support We’re looking for volunteers who can offer digital support to individuals. Many people need support to use various services online – this may include online shopping, GP services/ordering prescriptions and using different programmes to connect with friends and family; all helping to build people’s confidence with using technology.
