SCVS is governed by a board of Trustees, elected from our Member organisations.

ALUN EVANS - CHAIR

Alun has been involved with the Voluntary Sector for over 25 years in a range of formal and informal volunteering opportunities, and has been fortunate to have paid employment in the Sector since 2000. Alun takes a keen interest in volunteer strategy within wider communities and is actively committed to championing diversity and equality of opportunity.


CHERRIE BIJA - COMPANY SECRETARY

Representing Faith in Families (Swansea and Brecon Diocese)


JANE HARRIS

Represents Pontarddulais Partnership. Jane has been a town councillor for a number of years and is an active contributor to the community, particularly in the development of services.


SASKIA HAMER

Saskia became an SCVS Trustee in 2013. She has been working in the Third Sector in Swansea in voluntary and paid roles since 2005.


CHRIS MANN

Representing Swansea Neath Port Talbot Citizens Advice Bureau. Chris is the former chair of Powys Health Board, and former Trustee of Powys Association for Voluntary Organisations (PAVO). In addition, to being a trustee for SNPTCAB, Chris also volunteers for Dharmavajra Buddhist Centre in Swansea. Chris was a County Councillor for many years, and is a retired Probation Officer.


LLOYD WILLIAMS

LLOYD JONES

Co-opted to the Board in August 2017, Lloyd has 20yrs experience working in the Environmental sector. Since 2013 he has worked for Natural Resources Wales (NRW) based in Llandarcy. He heads up a small team who have been responsible for contributing environmental evidence to 4 Public Service Board across South West Wales. Lloyd and his team are also responsible for delivering an Area Statement for South West Wales (Area Statements will set out the challenges and opportunities for us all to maximise the benefits we get from our natural environment at the same time as protecting it for future generations).

Lloyd is an strong believer in the health and well-being benefits that the environment has to offer the people of Swansea. A volunteer with Involve since 2011, Lloyd has seen first-hand how time spent walking on Swansea Bay or up Kilvey Hill has benefited both him and the young person he volunteers with.


CAROLINE HAGERMAN

Caroline is a scientist and innovator who creates new products and services for healthcare. She is passionate about improving equality and breaking down barriers within the local community.


SABA HUMAYUN


YOLANDA BARNES

Yolanda joins the SCVS Board with over a decade of experience in Banking Operations and Client Relationship Management. She currently serves as the first Operations Manager of The CAE in Swansea, where she has oversight responsibility for the daily operations of the organisation, and the management of its workforce. She also doubles up as a management and business consultant and coordinator of the Swansea University-CAE, Wales Africa Innovation and Entrepreneurship Committee, which seeks to promote Wales in Africa by supporting academically backed business ventures across the continent.

Outside work, she enjoys supporting activities which help lift up the profile of women and also loves travelling and experiencing different cultures.

    Involve has a variety of schemes that engage people in need in Swansea. Involve recruit, train and support volunteers to be in a befriending/ Independent visitor role on a one to one or in a group setting to meet the needs of individual children, young people, families, adults with various needs or older people.

  • HWB Abertawe

    HWB (Health&Well Being) Abertawe is a project offering practical support and advice about healthy eating to people who may never have cooked for themselves or their families, who have little or no knowledge of the nutritional value of food and who would benefit from raising their awareness of how to increase their physical activity levels.

  • Mental Health Development Service

    Mental Health Development Service

    The Mental Health Development Service at SCVS facilitates joint working between voluntary organisations and statutory organisations. The service enables voluntary organisations to have their views taken into account when decisions are made regarding the planning and delivery of mental health services across the ABMU health board. The development service also supports and facilitates the local voluntary sector Mental Health Forum and provides mental health related information and resources.

  • Swansea Youth Bank

    Swansea Youth Bank is a youth led, grant giving panel of volunteers that provides grants to groups of young people to develop and run their own community projects across the City and County of Swansea.
