The Play and Leisure Opp Library LogoThe Play and Leisure Opportunity Library (PLOL), based in Swansea, is a unique project in Wales and the first play and leisure library for both children and adults with a disability. They are a registered charity providing specialist toys and equipment through a lending service.

The library is open to individuals and families in the community as well as centres, clubs and professionals who support children or adults with a disability. They also offer therapeutic play sessions, advice and support for members to learn, develop new skills and maximise their well-being.

PLOL are looking for people to join their Board of Directors to contribute to the overall responsibility for the strategic direction for the organisation.

Experience is desirable but not essential. This is a fantastic opportunity to join The Play and Leisure Opportunity Library.

What is required?

Currently, Directors are required to attend Board Meetings, which are held quarterly as a minimum.

This is a voluntary role, but reasonable travel costs to attend meetings or carry out duties can be reimbursed, although meetings are usually online.

PLOL is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults and expects all staff, directors and volunteers to share this commitment.

The directors will not work directly with the members of the library but there may be some indirect contact. For these reasons, the position is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a full chronological history of education and work will be needed as well as DBS check.
