Swansea Poverty Truth Commission logo graphicThe first Poverty Truth Commission (PTC) took place in Glasgow in 2009 and since then, there have been over a dozen successful commissions across Scotland and England.

It is not uncommon for an area to hold more than one PTC - Leeds, for example, is now having its fourth commission.

Each PTC hares a common approach, but it’s important to stress that each one is independent and developed locally by local people.

As the number of PTCs increased, a Poverty Truth Network (PTN) was established nationally to offer support and guidance on setting up a commission and the development of more established commissions.

The PTN also actively works to amplify the voices of local commissions on the themes and issues that are shared across the network.
