The fund has been made possible as a result of the Mynydd Y Gwair wind farm, which was completed by innogy in 2019. Now it is operational, the 16 turbine project can generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent needs of approximately 22,600 average Welsh homes.

The community funding from Mynydd y Gwair Wind Farm is long term, sustainable funding, and is expected to distribute approximately £6 million over the 25-year operational lifetime of the project.

There will be further rounds of the Mynydd Y Gwair Community Fund during 2020 – details will be made available through SCVS via the website, social channels and our monthly ebulletin*
