Swansea Fair Trade Forum logoRepresentatives from the Swansea Fair Trade Forum joined SCVS staff this week to celebrate World Fair Trade Day, which happens on the second Saturday of May every year.

SCVS is a Fair Trade Workplace, which means that we always have Fairtrade products in our kitchen and use Fairtrade products for refreshments at our public events.

We work in partnership with Swansea Fair Trade Forum who work with community groups, charities, businesses, campaign groups and schools to promote Fair Trade across the city and county of Swansea. The forum have recently successfully renewed Swansea's Fairtrade County status.

SCVS Director Amanda Carr:

We are really proud to be a Fair Trade Workplace. We hope that we and the Fair Trade Forum can help encourage and support more third sector organisations in Swansea to use and promote Fairtrade products. Fairtrade really does make a difference as it guarantees fair wages and working conditions for producers and growers. Also, the extra money they earn from the Fairtrade Premium allows producers to support their wider communities, investing in long term benefits like better healthcare or education provision, or more sustainable ways of farming and living.
