Wellbeing for Work graphic Feb 24Wales has the highest sickness absence rate of any UK region; the most common reasons for these long-term absences are mental health and musculoskeletal disorders. 

These absences can lead to increased costs for businesses such as sick pay, lost productivity and affect people’s quality of life.

What can employers do to prevent this?

It is proven that an upfront investment in workforce wellbeing can help create happier, healthier workplaces. 

The Welsh Government launched the In-Work Support Service in 2023 which is designed to support SME businesses in Wales do just that. RCS are delivering this programme in North, West and Southwest Wales, offering fully funded training and support in key wellbeing areas such as Wellbeing Champions, Mental Health Awareness, Menopause Awareness and Sleep.
