SCVS Trustee recruitment Swansea Council for Voluntary Service is the umbrella organisation for voluntary activity throughout the City & County of Swansea, supporting, developing and representing voluntary organisations, volunteers and communities in the County. We have an exciting opportunity for individuals to join our Board of Trustees and further strengthen the governance and strategic focus of SCVS. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants interested in the role of Treasurer. Established in 1997, we are a Registered Charity (1063242) and Company Ltd. by Guarantee (3346236). The Trustee Board is the governing body for SCVS and is legally and financially responsible for the organisation. The Board is accountable for the whole organisation, determining its strategic direction and monitoring performance. The Board sets the policy of the charity, determines strategy, including setting key strategic objectives and makes major decisions about the use of finances. It consults with its members and sets and monitors a framework of standards and policy. SCVS works to support and develop the Third Sector by providing a wide range of information, advice and support services and by representing the views of the sector to government and policy makers. The Trustees have agreed that we needed to focus on a particular recruitment drive to further diversify our Board, and to seek greater representation from people with lived experience of minoritising power structures and people under the age of 25. These are unpaid, voluntary positions, although all out of pocket expenses will be paid. We are currently looking to co-opt up to 4 Trustees and in particular a Treasurer. The Executive Team led by the Chief Executive Amanda Carr is accountable to the Trustee Board and has operational responsibility for the effective functioning of SCVS.
