Our Neighbourhood Project The ‘Our Neighbourhood Project’ focusses on the strengths that exist in local areas to create engaged and well-connected communities placing people at the heart of health and wellbeing. Funded by the West Glamorgan ‘Our Neighbourhood Approach’ Regional Partnership, this project works closely with the GP Health Cluster areas across Swansea. The project brings people together as a collective to share their skills to develop and grow grassroots projects, activities and schemes that will enrich their lives and the lives of other residents. The project is also undertaking asset mapping within the local area, identifying support groups, local services, green spaces, and more. Using local knowledge alongside other already known local information will help to create a snapshot of the strengths of the community, and allow the project to build on existing resources with the involvement of local citizens. Here’s how you can get involved… Become a ‘What’s on locally’ Volunteer: In this role (suitable for those aged 14 +) you can help the “Our Neighbourhood’ project discover all that is on offer across Swansea, helping to create an asset map of the area! This is a flexible & short-term opportunity that can be anything from a couple hours as a one-off (micro-volunteering) or longer, and which you could do digitally from your own home, or out in the local community – the choice is yours. Digital Volunteering Support We’re looking for volunteers who can offer digital support to people over the phone. Many people need support to use various services online – this may include online shopping, GP services/ordering prescriptions and using different programmes to connect with friends and family; all helping to build people’s confidence with using technology.
