The training, learning and development standards are also suitable for those in private sector settings, volunteers and elected members of local authorities. The standards aim to give you an understanding about safeguarding and what you must do in cases of actual or potential harm or abuse. Practitioners included in group A are required to be aware of safeguarding matters and therefore the standards in this group are set to reflect the minimum level of knowledge and practice required for their role. For example, a group A practitioner will be aware that there is law that safeguards people. You can access free online Group A Safeguarding training from Social Care Wales, by clicking here West Glamorgan Safeguarding Board (WGSB) The West Glamorgan Safeguarding Board (WGSB) is a multi-agency forum which brings together representatives of each of the main agencies and professionals who are responsible for helping to protect Children and Adults from abuse and neglect. The WGSB is responsible for: • agreeing on how the different services and professional groups should co-operate to safeguard Children and Adults• making sure that arrangements work effectively in bringing about better outcomes for Children and Adults in West Glamorgan The WGSB website holds information on local policy and practice guidance in our area, as well as information from Child Practice Reviews (CPR) and Adult Practice Reviews (APR) that have taken place. The reviews are held when a person or child dies, or where there is a significant incident of harm abuse or neglect. These practice reviews look at what could have been done differently, what improvements to practice could have been made. They are really important learning for us as organisations to look and reflect on our own practices to safeguard individuals.
